What is Bokeh Photography – Tips and Tricks Plus 25 Stunning Bokeh Photos Taken with Colorful Backgrounds

Understanding Bokeh Photography
What is Bokeh Photography?
Bokeh photography or “Boke” has become a favorite form of photography of many photographers in the past few years. The trend is ever increasing and it does not seem to be going out-of-vogue any time soon. The beauty of bokeh photography lies in how the photographer captures the blurry background in contrast with the subject of the photo. Rendering the out of focus light with the camera’s lens is what creates that beautiful bokeh effect. The word Bokeh basically has its origin in the Japanese word Bokeh which means blur. Thus, the spirit of bokeh photography is to capture the essence of your subject whilst maintaining a nice contrast with the out of focus areas in the blurry background. Photographers today create stunning bokeh effects while photographing their subjects to make their photos visually appealing. Bokeh does indeed make your photos appear more attractive and draws a lot of attention to them. Let’s explore some of the elements that play a good role in enhancing the quality of bokeh photographs and how to play with them to take awesome bokeh photos.

Bokeh Photography Tips and Tricks
Color
Color is one of the main elements of bokeh photography. If you want to enhance the overall impact of the bokeh image then its best to consider colorful backgrounds. I am not saying here that you can only capture bokeh photos in color mode but if you want to create visually appealing images it is recommended that you use a colored background.
Which areas to focus in Bokeh photography?
The main areas to focus on while taking bokeh photos is the foreground which creates the depth of field but you cannot neglect the out of focus background which mainly consists of small blurry areas. The trick to taking awesome bokeh photos is to stay close to your subject while using a camera with a large aperture. To keep the photo interesting try to play with the focus and see how it affects the relation between the out of focus and in focus areas.
There is no such thing as a failed photography attempt when you are out to explore and have fun. The more you experiment the better results you will get. Create an environment for your photograph, set a mood and think of a subject, focus, lose focus and I am sure you will find a way through it.
