The 6 Best Announcements from EA’s E3 2015 Event

Arguably one of the biggest game companies in the world right now is Electronic Arts. They’re producing games such as FIFA, The Sims, Sim City and many more. They had some great announcements to make at E3 this year and one special game that all fans are looking forward to as we continue our way through the year of Star Wars. EA have got a poor reputation that they wish to sort out over the next few years and this was mentioned during their press conference. Let’s hope some of the announcements and games they have coming will help redeem their reputation. So here is our list of the 6 best announcements from EA’s E3 2015 event.
Need For Speed is Back
Need for Speed is back! They’ve been trying their hands at mobile gaming but have no quite grasped the same racing simulation fanbase that the likes of Asphalt has on the mobile platform and so are going back to their roots with a console game. They look to differ themselves from the likes of Forza 6 and Gran Tourismo 5 by allowing you to race through streets, making the car races feel more street than staged. With a high level of customization, many different cars and hopefully a decent storyline, we expect the usual Need for Speed game but much prettier. In fact, word’s spreading that this game looked better than Forza 6 on the game floor and may even be one of the most realistic looking games ever. Only time will tell.
There’s Now Some Facial Recognition App To Get Your Face Into NBA
One of the demos that EA showed off during their special EA Sports segment was actually a really neat way of getting your face into the next NBA game by simply scanning it with your mobile phone. The app asks you to obviously sign into your EA account and then asks you to face the camera and then twist your head left to right so it can scan your face. It then produces, from the demo anyway, what looks to be a really good representation of the person’s face. This includes having the ability to move the mouth and have not-bad facial emotions during the NBA game. It will be really interesting to see them eventually bring this into the rest of the EA Sports catalogue of games.
The Long Awaited Mass Effect Series is BACK
Mass Effect is back! Now, we aren’t as hugely excited about this as we could be because nothing more than a trailer was shown. In fact, the game is going to be called Mass Effect: Andromeda which suggests it may not be related to the other Mass Effect trilogy we are used to. This may be a little disheartening to some fans but may be a clever move as of fear of just using the same material from the previous games but with updated graphics on the newer generation consoles. In addition, don’t expect to hear much more about Mass Effect until the next E3 as there’s still over a year until its release.
Mirror’s Edge Is Hoping To Redeem Itself
Mirror’s Edge was one of those games that got everyone excited at first. Being able to freely run around the tops of skyscrapers in a futuristic city with some great 60fps action and some basic combat seemed like every adrenaline junkie’s dream come true. However, what came out of the game was almost nothing. It was a let-down of a platformer that ensured you only ran over certain parts of the skyscrapers and not much more. Mirror’s Edge Catalyst looks to bring you a more open space, more free roaming, better graphics and far better storyline to keep you engaged and finally give us what we wanted from the original 2008 title.
Unravel Actually Looks Really Fun
Before the big one, there was a little game announced called Unravel. Now, we’ve seen the likes of LittleBigPlanet use string to create a really enjoyable little platformer and then go on to make some really decent sequels too, creating a great family game. However, Unravel looks to create a truly story-line driven world on your console and PC. Now, what makes Unravel stand out? Well, Unravel looks absolutely stunning. The lighting, the detail, the textures, the shadows. Stunning. The trailer is well worth a watch and will make you fall in love with the character. It looks to incorporate a sidescrolling game with spiderman-like swinging elements, climbing, platforming and exploring. It looks to be one of those games where you simply fall in love with the story, character and look of the game.
Star Wars: Battlefront Looks INCREDIBLE
Finally, the one everyone was waiting for during the EA press conference and maybe even the whole of E3. One of the most anticipated games of the year is Star Wars: Battlefront. It looks to be a complete overhaul of the original series bringing with it a stunning new engine that really brings the world of Star Wars into your hands. The game will feature plenty of different scenarios allowing you to play in memorable scenes from the movie and play as some of your favourite heroes from the original trilogy. The game looks stunning and that is already a plus for most people, but it looked to genuinely play really well during the gameplay demo also. For Star Wars fans, this game is going to be brilliant, for gamer fans this well could be one of the best games of the year. We can’t wait to get our hands on it!
