Peak offers some really good features within it’s brain training experience and offers it all with a great looking user interface too. Peak asks you which areas of your brain you wish to train from your memory to your multitasking to your attention and more. Once these have been selected, the idea is that you complete four tasks a day to work on these areas of your brain. After each game, you are given a performance score which you can compare to whichever age group you wish.
The games that are offered are varied guaranteeing you won’t get bored of playing the same few games over and over again. The games range from matching numbers, remembering words whilst trying to work an equation out and much more. In terms of pricing, you can can have the basic Peak for free, with four tasks every day based on your preset choices. Or you can choose to have Peak Pro for 1 month from $4.99 or 12 months from $34.99. Pro allows you far more game choices, more insight into your performance and more tasks a day.
Elevate (iOS, Free/Android, Free)
Elevate is another enormous success story on both Android and iOS earning a 4 and a half star rating from over nearly 38,000 reviews on iOS and a similar rating on the Android platform. Elevate takes a very similar approach to Peak offering you the choice to choose which parts of your brain to work out and then different games each day to work out those different choices. The games are once again thrilling, offering up over 30 different choices meaning that you’re not likely to find yourself repeating the games either. The games get harder as you perform better, same as Peak.
The games offered have a similar theme to them as those offered in Peak, you’ll get different choices based on your pre-selected brain sections to work out obviously and you’ll get plenty of choices too. You are given a more in-depth performance score too, offering you more rewards for doing better each day. So more motivation in-app to continue than Peak. Lumosity (iOS, Free/Android, Free)
Finally on our list, we have Lumosity. Lumosity is the third and final big name in brain training on your smartphone or tablet. The application is a beautiful experience offering up a great user interface and design no matter which platform you use it on. With a 4.1 rating from nearly 12,000 reviews on Android, it’s definitely an application that has garnered a popular following and is well respected.
Lumosity quotes itself as being “designed by neuroscientists to train memory, attention, and more. With foundations in the study of neuroplasticity, Lumosity games are used in research, and have been incorporated into studies done by top scientists worldwide.” This is a fairly impressive statement and one that stands true with some great activities that usually get your brain working hard to get them right.
Lumosity, like the others, offers a PRO plan that gives you more activity choices, more detailed performance scores and better support from support teams etc. The PRO plans for Lumosity are 1 month is $11.99 or 1 year is $59.99. This makes it the priciest option with the cheapest being Peak and Elevate being the mid-ground choice. Luckily, all these applications still offer you a great experience for free and will likely make you consider upgrading to the PRO options. It’s great they all offer a month’s choice to let you see if it’s something you want to commit to for the whole year.
